KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Effective Jan. 6, 2025: A dredging project has begun on the south end of Sebastian Inlet State Park. Visitors should follow all instruction from park staff and avoid closed areas.

Jetty Closure

Effective Nov. 12, 2024: A months-long closure of the North Jetty at Sebastian Inlet State Park is in effect. This project, executed by the Sebastian Inlet District, will maintain inlet infrastructure, navigation and enhance public safety.

Catwalks Closed Temporarily

Effective June 5, 2023: The north and south catwalks under the A1A bridge are closed at Sebastian Inlet State Park.

Welcome to Sebastian Inlet State Park

Surfers from around the globe flock to Sebastian Inlet State Park to ride “First Peak” and “Monster Hole,” but this pristine park is more than a Florida surfer’s paradise.


Visitors stroll untouched beaches, collecting shells and observing sea turtle nests, or try their luck fishing from one of the jetties that slice into the Atlantic. Calmer waters on the Indian River Lagoon beckon kayakers to explore wild beauty.

Two museums provide area history. The McLarty Treasure Museum highlights the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet, while the Sebastian Fishing Museum chronicles the history of the area's fishing industry.

A campground for RVs and tent campers is available, along with a boat ramp.

Surfside Grill, Rentals & Tours

BG’s Surfside Grill and Adventures is the official concessionnaire for Sebastian Inlet State Park. Sebastian Inlet is home to the premier saltwater fishing spot on Florida’s east coast. Surfing is also popular and several major competitions are held here every year. Two museums provide a history of the area.

Sea Turtles at Sebastian Inlet

The loggerhead is the most abundant sea turtle species at Sebastian Inlet State Park, with nearly 700 nests in 2018. Sebastian Inlet State Park conducts park ranger-guided educational sea turtle walks.

History and Culture of Sebastian Inlet

The area’s long history of human habitation reached its most dramatic point in 1715, when a Spanish treasure fleet fell victim to a hurricane and wrecked in shallow waters off the island. The impact of this disaster still captures the imagination today.

Bridge at Cross Florida Greenway

Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway

Occupying more than 70,000 acres of land formerly known as the Cross Florida Barge Canal, the Greenway is a 110-mile linear park that is more than a mile wide in places. It hosts more than 300 miles of trails of all types — paddling, hiking, mountain biking, equestrian and paved multi-use.
