Sharing the passion.
Jackie started her career at Sebastian Inlet State Park as a volunteer in 2020 after earning her bachelor’s in biology from FSU. Shortly after that, she officially joined the staff, promoting to Park Services Specialist in 2022. Jackie is also the volunteer coordinator, marine turtle permit holder and interpretive chairperson.
“I love working at Sebastian Inlet," Jackie said, when asked about her time working at the park. "There are so many cool things that we get to see and experience while working. I have learned so many new skills and made many new friends. The staff is an amazing group of people that lift each other up.”
If you want to get involved at the park, consider volunteering. Speaking of her role as the park's volunteer coordinator, Jackie said, “I love getting people involved in what they really want to do. It's awesome to see someone with passion for the park's resources or history sharing that passion with others.”
For Jackie, a great day starts with the sunrise on the beach, marking sea turtle nests. During the day she might get the chance to observe some wildlife and help school groups connect with the environment, and if everything is just right, the day ends with a moonrise, and showing visitors their first nesting loggerhead.
