Volunteer Spotlight

Elisse has volunteered over 700 hours!

Elisse is a dedicated volunteer who works at the Fishing Museum every Thursday, providing information to park visitors and running the gift shop. The Fishing Museum provides an important cultural resource by telling the history of the area and how the inlet was made. By helping operate the gift shop she is also helping our citizen support organization raise additional funding for the park.

Elisse is reliable, hardworking and always comes in with a great attitude! Talking with her is always a fun part of the day for visitors and staff. It is obvious that she cares deeply about the park, its people and about making a difference. It is volunteers like Elisse that keep our park going – she is one of the pillars that keeps our museum open and available to the public.

Elisse says “Friends introduced me to Sebastian Inlet State Park. I don’t even remember when I started. But I love meeting people and finding out where they are from.” She's been volunteering since 2021 and has accumulated more than 700 hours!

The Fishing Museum has a great view of the inlet where you can spot all kinds of wildlife, and boat activity. One of the things that keeps Elisse volunteering is her love for the inlet. “The view of the water soothes the soul,” she says, and she can often spot dolphins and sea turtles playing in the inlet.

We cannot thank her enough for all her hard work and support over the years. Thank you Elisse!
