Safety Updates

Florida State Parks will follow local orders requiring facial coverings or masks to provide for staff and visitor safety. These requirements vary from area to area. Our main priority is the safety of our guests and staff. We will continue to review operations on a daily basis and make additional operational changes as may be deemed necessary for protection of public health. Please review individual park pages for specific information for each location.

Limited Access and Campground Closure

In order to ensure staff and visitor safety, the south end of park and the campground are closed due to the effects of a storm. DEP is assessing and repairing the damage at Little Talbot Island State Park resulting from the recent nor’easter. At North Beach, Boardwalk #2 remains closed due to compromised shoreline access. Boardwalks #1 and #3, however, are open and accessible to the public. The south end of Little Talbot remains closed as the well is being capped due to its proximity to the shoreline. Drilling a new south well is currently planned at the south beach, as are adjustments to north beach accesses. Reopening these areas will begin as soon as possible once conditions are safe to do so.

Limited Visitation at this Park

Effective December 2020: Little Talbot Island State Park is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Normal fees apply for day use. The ranger station opens at 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday for entry fees and annual pass purchases. Visitors can use the honor fee envelope system for exact cash payments. QR code payment is also available. Due to local orders, facial coverings or masks are required inside buildings for staff and visitor safety. Overnight accommodations are closed through Jan. 6, 2020. The Fort George Inlet parking area at the south end of the island is closed. Restroom availability may be limited. All other park facilities are closed. Visitors are expected to maintain distances of at least six feet apart.

Welcome to Little Talbot State Park

Exploring Little Talbot Island’s undeveloped beach is a unique Florida experience.

Park Admission - Vehicle

Park Admission - Single Occupant or Motorcycle

Park Admission - Bicycle & Pedestrian

Little Talbot Island is one of a handful of undeveloped barrier islands remaining in Northeast Florida. Boasting more than five miles of pristine beaches and three miles of bike trails, Little Talbot offers untouched natural beauty and diverse ecosystems for visitors to explore.

There is, of course, the white sand and rolling surf typical of many high energy coasts. But there is also the eroding sun-bleached roots and fallen trunks of cedar and palm that create a linear tapestry of natural sculptures.

Enjoy beachcombing, surfing, fishing, hiking, birdwatching, a winding kayak journey along the bluffs of Myrtle Creek and camping in a lush forest hammock. There is something for every outdoor lover on Little Talbot Island.

Imagine a coastline, rugged and wild, untouched by construction or cement. Stately sea oats wave in the breeze, marking their claim to the dunes.
