Fishing & Wildlife Viewing on the St. Marks River
When you visit Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park, take advantage of the peaceful atmosphere you will find there.
The St. Marks River located on the north side of Natural Bridge Road is a popular freshwater fishing spot. This river is modest in length, but long in history and has been classified by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as an “Outstanding Florida Waters." Some fish you might hook there include sunfish, largemouth bass, snook, crappie and striped bass.
The river and surrounding woodlands also provide ample opportunity for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. While you are visiting enjoy a picnic lunch or a canoe or kayak paddle while listening to the interesting sounds of northern cardinals, red-shouldered hawks, carolina chickadees, pileated woodpeckers and bald eagles.
