In 2022, we celebrate 25 successful years of a partnership with the Florida Conservation Corps. Part of that celebration includes highlighting members who continued their careers by joining the Florida State Parks team.

Diana served two terms with Florida Conservation Corps, then Florida State Parks AmeriCorps, in 2004 and 2005 for a total of 2,800 hours at Oscar Scherer State Park.

Diana began her park service career in 2006 as a ranger at Oscar Scherer State Park. She is now the park services specialist at the park where she focuses on volunteer coordination, programming and event coordination.

During her service terms, she worked on outreach within the community and building partnerships with local nonprofit groups. She also worked on hurricane deployment on all levels of recovery work. Learning about giving back to the community and working with a team has helped her to build confidence and leadership skills. She found FLCC to be very fulfilling and rewarding.

Diana has spent time learning to identify native and non-native plants and animals and how each one impacts the environment. She has also spent considerable time learning about and performing prescribed fire and working her way to becoming a certified burner. Now she enjoys working with great volunteers and staff. She also enjoys creating, organizing and coordinating events and gets a lot of fulfillment from doing so!
