Phil Cote

Crystal River Archaeological State Park

Volunteer Phil Cote came to Crystal River from the Chicago area in 2015. Living just down the road from the parks, he and his wife visited and took the Eco – Heritage boat tour at the Crystal River Preserve State Park regularly. It was there that he found an opportunity to volunteer close to his home, learn more about the local area and history, and remain an active part of his community.

Phil has since become a member of the Friends of Crystal River State Parks, and volunteers Saturday afternoons at Crystal River Archaeological State Park. He also meets with local business owners to discuss the importance of the parks, and distributes literature about the parks to various tourism hot spots in the area.

Phil states that he “feels privileged to be a part of the important role the Crystal River state parks play in the protection of the natural and cultural resources of the Nature Coast that are so vital to the economy of Crystal River and Citrus County”.  Phil enjoys meeting the guests from around the world that visit the museum, and the many people he meets in the community as an ambassador of the Crystal River state parks.
