Park Ranger, Jane Cummings

Wekiwa Springs State Park

For Jane Cummings, becoming a ranger was not just a new job. She became a volunteer for park services in 2013 and knew that she was meant to be a ranger. Jane became a ranger at Wekiwa Springs State Park in August of 2017. The passion and wonder that Jane brings to work every day is apparent in her interactions with staff and visitors. She believes in what she does and strives to share that enthusiasm with others through her actions and attitudes. Jane summed everything up by saying, “Every day is a wonderful day when you live a ranger life!”

She serves as the interpretive chairperson for the park, and her previous experience as an environmental science teacher for 15 years enables her to share the stories of the park with ease and professionalism. Jane has developed many community partnerships with local schools and provides students and educators with programs that are in line with state education standards. Her positive and engaging attitude with volunteers, Scout groups and daily visitors is an asset to the park.
