Park Ranger, April Davis

Suwannee River State Park

April is the newest ranger to the staff at Suwannee River.  Growing up on a farm in Alabama she has always been at home in nature.  When her family moved to north Florida she fell in love with the historic Suwannee River.  She started her career with Florida Park Service at a sister park but jumped when she had the opportunity to become a full-time park ranger here at Suwannee River.

April enjoys all aspects of her job but truly has a passion working with her hands.  Her carpentry skills are apparent in projects all around the park.  From building kiosks for our sister park, Madison Blue, to restoring the Kestrel nesting boxes she never ceases to amaze us with her talents.

The Sandhill Trail holds a special place in her heart.  Late in the afternoon when the barred owl calls out or early in the morning as a spider shakes the dew from its web she feels there is no place she would rather be.  April firmly believes that preserving our natural resources is a responsibility we all carry and loves to share her passion with guests as they visit the park.
