Experiences

Bicycling
Bicycling

Off-road bicycling is available along the 14.8 miles of trails. 

  • Helmets are highly recommended for all cyclists and Florida law requires helmets for cyclists age 16 and under.
Birding
Birding

There are many different species of birds to view at the park, including mallard ducks, great blue herons and red-tailed hawks. You may encounter numerous shore and wading birds along the river or see ospreys, bald eagles and countless songbird species while on the hiking/nature trail. 

Boating
Boating

The Econfina River offers a variety of salt and fresh water fishing and provides direct access to Apalachee Bay. The river is not suited for water skiing or kneeboarding/wakeboarding.

There are numerous limestone rock outcroppings that make navigation challenging.

Fishing
Fishing

Fishing is allowed in designated areas, and both fresh and salt water fish can be caught in the river. 

  • All fishing within the park must conform to regulations concerning size, number, method of capture and season. A fishing license may be required. More information is available at the Florida Wildlife Commission’s Fishing in Florida.

Nature lovers can explore the scenic beauty by foot on 14.8 miles of wooded trails.

Explore the scenic beauty by horseback on 14.8 miles of wooded trails.

  • No amenities for horses are available.
  • Proof of negative Coggins is required. 
Paddling
Paddling

The Econfina River offers a variety of salt and fresh water fishing. There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen as you drift or paddle down the river.

Picnicking

A small covered pavilion with two picnic tables is available.

Tours
Tours

Econfina River offers a one-hour ranger-guided interpretive tour with a two-week notice. We can accommodate groups up to 50 people.

If your group contains more than 50 or you cannot give us a two-week notice, please call the office at 850-487-7989. We make every reasonable effort to accommodate all tour groups when the situation allows.

There are many different types of wildlife to view at the park, including black bear, fox and deer.

Boat Ramp

There are two small boat ramps within the park. Econfina River State Park does not have a boat launch fee. The park entrance fee covers launching a boat as well.

Canoe Kayak Launch
Canoe Kayak Launch

There are two small boat ramps within the park. Econfina River State Park does not have a launch fee for canoes and kayaks. The entrance fee includes the launch.

Equestrian Trail

  • No amenities for horses are available.

Econfina has one picnic pavilion along with one accessible and one standard picnic table. 

  • The pavilion and picnic tables at Econfina River are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  • Pavilion reservations are not available.
