Jordan Miller, Park Ranger
Park ranger Jordan Miller grew up in Toledo, Ohio, and has loved nature since the age of 5 as a kid in the local nature camp program. He has spent most of his life working in local parks and spent seven years at the Toledo Zoo before making the move to the Sunshine State.
He moved here to work in the AmeriCorps/Florida Conservation Corps Project A.N.T. program, where he served from 2015 to 2017. He always wanted to be a park ranger or naturalist, and Florida State Parks chose him.
Ranger Jordan is a historic weapons safety supervisor as well as a first aid/CPR instructor. He has led and participated in strike teams, workdays, special events and more. Whether it be maintaining equipment at the shop or interacting with the visitors and interpretive displays, Jordan has new experiences everyday. He enjoys creating methods of recreation and education for others to enjoy.
Jordan understands that prescribed fire is important for resource management and education on the park's landscape (the need to restore and conserve). Fall and winter are his favorite times of year because more people the visit the park. When it is dry, trails are accessible and more of the park can be easily maintained.
Jordan considers Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park his “home park,” as he lives just 6.5 miles away in Holiday, Fla., with his wife and infant son. His love for Florida’s natural landscape has been shaped largely by Werner-Boyce. He met his future wife here in 2017, so he feels a strong personal connection to this park.
