Special Event Awards
The Friends of Highlands Hammock have received the Special Event Award for Cultural Resources. The group organized and presented the Florida Series Four!, a series of guest lectures at Highlands Hammock State Park from scholars on a variety of topics.
Volunteer Team of 2 Awards
Carolyn Morgan and Carol Cone have received the 2020 Team of 2 Award for Administration. They volunteer at Oscar Scherer State Park, where their most recent project was digitizing 35 mm slide films into photos we can use today.
Volunteer Spotlight, Logsdon Family
The Logsdon family brings a new face to volunteering. This close-knit family is utilizing volunteer opportunities as new ways to teach and learn.
Tom and Lynn Maize have received the 2020 Team of 2 Award for Resource Management. They volunteer at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach and North Peninsula state parks. They develop programs and work to remove invasive plants from the parks.
Volunteer Team of 3+ Awards
Diana Gregory, Sue Hamburger and Sue Munson have received the Volunteer Team of 3+ Award for Administration. They help with the native plant shade house, managing the gift shop and volunteering with the Friends of Savannas group.
The Silver Springs Facility Closure Camping Team has won the Volunteer Team of 3+ Award for maintenance. This team works on cleaning, maintenance and repairs of the campground and cabins at Silver Springs State Park.
Allison Scheflow, Gerald Madden and Carla Albano have won the Volunteer Team of 3+ Award for Resource Management. They monitor the beach at Dr. Von D. Mizel-Eula Johnson State Park for sea turtle nesting activities.
The Highlands County Audubon Society has received a Volunteer Team of 3+ Award for Visitor Services. They built a sheltered, accessible observation pavilion at Highlands Hammock State Park to help visitors connect with nature.
