Logsdon Family

The Logsdon Family

The Logsdon family brings a new face to volunteering. This close-knit family is using volunteer opportunities as new ways to learn and teach.

The Logsdons are no strangers to traveling: They have been RVing the states full time. In 2021, they became interested in volunteering for Florida State Parks. The entire family is part of the volunteer team at Bahia Honda State Park. The girls are learning more than just cleaning and maintenance skills.

Youth volunteers Clara, Ellie and Juliette have learned the value that volunteers bring to each park and the wide variety of talents each person contributes. Parents Nathan and Ashley have been educating Clara, Ellie and Juliette since they were born. To them, functional education is a lifestyle, a type of learning that looks beyond the classroom.

The Logsdon family has contributed more than their assigned duties since they’ve been at Bahia Honda. They have engaged in multiple shoreline cleanups, invasive species removal, turtle surveys and nest evaluations, data collection of sea turtle numbers, roving interpretation, assisting rangers with interpretive programs and much more.

It has been a pleasure to work alongside this family and see the wonder of learning new things through their eyes. It is an honor to have them as resident volunteers at the park.
