Dave Bleau

Jonathan Dickinson State Park

In search of warmer weather, sunny skies and to spend more time with his son, four years ago Dave Bleau said goodbye to the icy winters of Michigan and hello to the land of perpetual sunshine. Committed to helping the community, Dave happily accepted a volunteer position at Long Key State Park.

From “meeting people from everywhere imaginable to the amazing staff” Dave was hooked.

Not long after his first volunteer gig ended Dave found himself here at Jonathan Dickinson State Park. The past three winters, he has been welcoming guests to Trapper Nelson’s Zoo and Jungle Gardens; a historic site within the park only accessible by way of the river. For Dave, his favorite part of the day is sharing the unique history of Trappers with the guests.

When not at the park, Dave returns to the big waters of Lake Michigan every summer to fish for King Salmon and spend time with family.
