The Friends of Blue Spring State Park is the recipient of the 2025 Volunteer Award for Special Event of the Year.
It takes a village to run the month-long Firefly Nights event at Blue Spring State Park. The large, dedicated team of volunteers with the Friends of Blue Spring State Park are essential to the event's success. They assist with marketing, ticketing, merchandise, safety and interpretation every evening for an entire month. The volunteers provide a unique form of resource-based recreation: allowing visitors an unforgettable experience witnessing thousands of fireflies glitter throughout the woods at night while protecting the fireflies' habitat. The dedication of our Friends Group ensures the event continues to grow, offering visitors multiple ways to connect with nature.
