In 2022, we celebrate 25 successful years of a partnership with the Florida Conservation Corps. Part of that celebration includes highlighting members who continued their careers by joining the Florida State Parks team.

Megan Greene served with the Florida Conservation Corps from February to December 2020. In 2022 she returned as an FLCC program assistant where she now supports current AmeriCorps members.

Megan served her Florida Conservation Corps term as a Project TREC member. During her term, she learned how to build, maintain and enhance public trails. She also learned about prescribed burning and disaster response. She developed many skills that she now uses in her current position as an FLCC program assistant.

During Megan’s time with the FLCC, she served 1,764 hours along with eight other teammates on a trail team that focused on improvement projects around the state. She also deployed with the disaster response team to Escambia County to assist with recovery efforts after Hurricane Sally.

As an FLCC program assistant, Megan assists FLCC staff and members whenever needed, including overseeing member timesheets, quarterly reports, training, recruitment and enrollment. Her unique perspective as a recent alumnus helps current members during their service.

Megan’s favorite project was at Ichetucknee Springs State Park. She also found the hard work of removing non-native plants at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park with chainsaws rewarding.
