Jerry Allen

Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area At Flagler Beach

Volunteer Jerry Allen has been volunteering at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area for six years. He and his wife Carol have helped the park in so many ways – from repairing storm damage as a result of Hurricane Matthew to constructing a pavilion along the Intracoastal Waterway. However, one project stands out from the rest – the interior renovation of the Ranger Station. Jerry has a true passion for woodworking and, fortunately for us, is extremely skilled at it.

It was time to give our Ranger Station an updated look and feel. Jerry’s skill and creativity led to an amazing transformation that welcomes our visitors in a whole new way.  His handmade boat-shaped bookshelf, surfboard bench and merchandise table capture the aura of the beach atmosphere perfectly.  He used beautiful pecky cypress lumber to construct a new camper registration countertop and a cabinet for our cash register.  Jerry also crafted a gorgeous wainscoting of pecky cypress along the wall of the lobby.  Visitors, both new and old, comment on the craftmanship and the unique look of the wood.

Thank you, Jerry, for giving our Ranger Station a makeover for the enjoyment of both visitors and staff alike!
