Park Ranger, Kim Higgins

Lake Griffin State Park

In 1995, administrative assistant Kim Higgins left sunny South Florida and traded in her shorts and flip-flops for pants and boots to work at Lake Griffin State Park. Kim started out as a park ranger and did a variety of jobs from maintenance to interpretation. It was this  variety that Kim has always loved.

“The main thing I love about my career choice is the diversity of whatever position you may hold. Every day brings something new and different.”

Kim keeps close tabs on the park’s administrative side but still has the chance to talk to visitors. She recognizes that she may be the only staff member that visitors see so she makes it a point to ensure that every visitor has the best possible experience.

“ I was told very early in my career that we can make or break a visitor’s experience in the parks and I really took this to heart.”

Kim is always friendly, informative and welcoming and would love for you to come visit.
