Assistant Park Manager, Bill Nash

Cayo Costa State Park

After serving in the United States Army, Bill Nash attended Auburn University pursuing a degree in Forestry. While in school, he worked as a part time employee at a nearby Alabama state park, where he soon realized his passion for the parks. After graduating college, he was given the opportunity to become a park ranger at St. Andrews State Park, where he and his family visited annually since he was a child. This was was an absolute dream come true. With his military and educational background along with his passion and experience in state parks, he was honored to be given the opportunity to become an Assistant Park Manager.

Channelling his background, and probably at first glance, he may seem the rigid and serious type, but pretty quickly folks realize he is a beach bum with that “Any Griffith Charm.” So when the opportunity came along to manage Cayo Costa State Park, an island only accessible boat, he jumped at the chance and never looked back. With all the natural resources, beautiful beaches and unique camping opportunities, Bill says that he and his team that keeps this park going is “like a family, and I think folks can sense that when they step off the boat, and that is a big part of why visitors come back year after year.”

Assistant Park Manager Bill Nash takes great pride in leading his team and meeting the challenges of managing multiple barrier island parks. For Bill, there is nothing more fun than interacting with first time visitors who step off the boat who can’t wait to explore and enjoy everything these unique, unspoiled and natural barrier island parks have to offer. As a native Floridian; the opportunity to manage, maintain and interpret the natural and cultural resources of these islands for future generations is a dream come true. When Bill isn’t working, you may find him fishing, hiking or kayaking in and around these wonderful barrier island state parks. His vacations usually end up being “staycations” since he gets to work at his favorite place on earth.
