Hugh Taylor Birch State Park
Tucked between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway, this peaceful sanctuary offers visitors a slice of coastal wilderness within a vibrant city. Fort Lauderdale’s “Central Park” was gifted to the city by Hugh Taylor Birch, for whom the urban oasis is named.

Paynes Creek Historic State Park
In late 1849, Fort Chokonikla was built nearby as the first outpost in a chain of forts established during tensions with Seminole Indians. Today, nature enthusiasts and hikers can enjoy walking along trails through the park's natural areas.
