Experiences

Birding
Birding

Native and migrating birds take shelter in the lush forests along the trails. You may see little blue herons, white ibis, or even a bald eagle soaring above you. Keep a watchful eye for roseate spoonbills wading in the shallows.

Boating
Boating

The waters of Terra Ceia Bay are great for an afternoon of fishing. An unimproved boat ramp provides easy access for shallow-draft vessels on the mid to high tide.

Fishing
Fishing

Freshwater and saltwater make up Terra Ceia Bay, meaning that there is an array of fish in the waters. Cast a line in the tea-colored waters and hook your catch of the day!

Hiking
Hiking

Nine miles of trails are open to foot traffic and accessible from park gates at Hightower Road. Please do not block the gates.

  • There are no facilities at the park.
  • Bring water and bug repellent.

A new hiking trail is available off Bishop Harbor Road. The address is 8054 Bishop Harbor Road in Palmetto.

  • Trails are well marked.
  • Some trails can be submerged at wet times of the year.
Paddling
Paddling

The waterways wind through thick mangrove forests, creating tunnels where your kayak can glide under their outstretched limbs.

Several canoe/kayak launches are available on Bishop Harbor Road and Stotz Road.
