Scuba Diving
Scuba Diving

Scuba diving and snorkeling are permitted.

For everyone's safety, the following rules must be observed:

  • All persons participating in scuba diving activities do so at their own risk.
  • Each diver must dive within the limits of their certification.
  • A dive party must consist of at least two divers.
  • A diver-down flag must be displayed.
  • Fossils and artifacts must not be disturbed or removed. Aquatic plants must not be trampled or disturbed.
  • Do not carve or otherwise deface rocks or any other surfaces.
  • Keep a minimum distance of 50 feet between you and manatees at all times.
  • Dives must be completed one hour before sunset.
  • Collection of live specimens is prohibited.
  • Spearfishing is not permitted within state park boundaries.

To participate in this program, one:

  • Must have ability to travel over water to underwater site marked with mooring buoys, approximately two miles from nearest shore.
  • Must have ability to board and disembark from boat transportation independently or with the assistance of a companion and/or with the use of adaptive equipment.
  • Must have ability to tolerate full sun on entire trip since there is no shade.
  • Must have ability to follow verbal and/or visual instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.
  • Must have ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors for a period of approximately two to three hours.

If snorkeling, one:

  • Must have the ability to enter and exit the water.
  • Must have the ability to display diver down flag as required by state law.

In the event of a capsize, one:

Must have the ability to right oneself and remain face up in the water with aid of a properly fitted personal flotation device.

Snorkeling is permitted.
