Volunteer Bernadette is a native of Ft. Pierce, FL and started volunteering for the Florida Park Service in 2017.
Bernadette works in the Ranger station during morning shifts a few times each week. She always has a positive, friendly attitude and she attributes it to the love of her work in Florida state parks and because she enjoys interacting with park visitors.
While volunteering, Bernadette’s favorite time is out conducting surveys of sea turtle nests. She enjoys stopping and talking with the public about the different kinds of sea turtles that nest on our beaches and what precautions should be taken so the mother turtles and hatchlings aren’t disturbed.
When she is not volunteering at Ft. Pierce Inlet, Bernadette can be found reading, kayaking visiting other Florida parks or tending to the many different species of flowers, fruits and vegetables in her garden at home.
When you come visit Fort Pierce Inlet State Park say hello to Bernadette and ask about our sea turtles.
