Volunteer Amber Lamoreaux

Volunteer Amber helps make history come alive by dressing in 1830s clothing, talking to visitors and showing them how people lived and worked during the Second Seminole War period.

Amber is president of the Dade Battlefield Society, the park’s citizen support organization.

Amber first visited Dade Battlefield Historic State Park in 2012, participating as a living historian in our annual Dade’s Battle of 1835 reenactment weekend. She fell in love with the park, and Amber has attended the event every year since. Dedicating herself to historic preservation and education, Amber helps make history come alive by dressing in 1830s clothing, talking to visitors and showing them how people lived and worked during the Second Seminole War period.

In 2020, Amber accepted the treasurer position with Dade Battlefield Society. Shortly afterward, a need arose to organize the Dade’s Battle event, and Amber stepped in to manage the event that she had only attended in the past. In July 2022, Amber was elected as CSO president and immediately hit the ground running to better organize the organization and help it grow. Amber often represents the Dade Battlefield Society at community events and speaks to outside organizations about the CSO, the park and the history it was created to preserve and interpret.

Amber continues to work towards the many goals and projects of the Dade Battlefield Society, including a new interpretive kiosk, purchasing equipment used to maintain the park, and the future restoration of the historic front entrance archway. Amber also continues to help with events and interpretive programs like A Road Back in Time, Florida Heritage Day and Christmas on the Florida Frontier.
