A leader across the district as a fire practitioner
Originally from Miami, Patrick began his career at Oleta River and was quickly bitten by the Resource Management Bug. He saw the importance of prescribed fire and sought to be proficient in its application. He moved to Lake Kissimmee State Park and Catfish Creek Preserve State Park where he honed his skills in fire management and restoration.
It has been much to our benefit that he now calls St. Sebastian River Preserve home. He manages the fire and equipment side of one of the most challenging burn programs in the state and is a leader across the district as a fire practitioner. His footprint is all over the preserve and on any given day you can see the effects of good fire. Patrick’s skill in implementing fire on natural systems at the right time is impressive.
As a Resource Management Specialist working for the Florida Park Service, Patrick loves the fact that every day is different. His most recent accomplishment is a record-breaking year in prescribed fire application with over 7000 acres of safe and beneficial fire! The day-of burn is only one aspect of the program – his leadership in equipment use and planning are top notch. He has created a preventive maintenance program that will keep the Preserve healthy for years to come.
With stewardship at the heart of all Florida Park Service jobs, Patrick’s commitment to overall forest health and a "no job is too small" attitude makes the Preserve grateful to have him as one of our TEAM.
