Staff Spotlight, Jeffery Scott Crick

When it comes to passion for public lands, Jeffrey Scott Crick brings it with every step through Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park. Born and raised in Chapel Hill, Tennessee, Scott spent more than a decade as a Park Ranger there before trading mountains for mangroves and he hasn’t looked back. As the park’s Interpretive Chairperson, he helps bring programs to life. From leading events to operating the park’s airboat, he’s a steady presence behind both the scenes and the spotlight.

Curious about what keeps him coming back day after day? It’s the conversations with guests, the hands-on work with staff and volunteers and the thrill of watching the sunrise from a kayak or fire line. Scott is equally comfortable pulling invasive weeds as he is planning interpretive experiences and he’s always ready for the next prescribed burn or shoreline cleanup. Scott sees a future filled with growth, hoping to step into a leadership role while continuing to champion programs that bring people together. Whether he’s greeting a family at the trailhead or navigating the backwaters by boat, Park Ranger Jeffrey Scott Crick is a reminder that behind every well-loved park is someone who loves it even more.
