Tony Clements, Park Manager

Welcome to Oscar Scherer State Park, we look forward to your visit with us. If you’re looking for an adventure or just a place to recharge your batteries we’ve got it all.

Summer is here, a good time to take an early moring hike on one of our nine great trails. Cool off this summer in our Freshwater swimming lake, no red tide here.  Join us on the Sunday Scrub Walk at 8:30 a.m. or the guided kayak paddle Wednesdays at 9 a.m.  With all the great resource management work we’ve been doing in the park we had another successful breeding season for the Florida Scrub-Jays. 6 more fledglings this season the most in several years 2 years in a row.

Our Big Lake restoration project is moving right along.  Big Lake was a pit dug to build up the local highway. The restoration will convert this borrow pit into a more natural lake providing great habitat and fishing opportunities. Part of this project included the creation of an upland island in the center of the lake that will encourage roosting for many wading birds. We are hoping to have the project complete by the end of the summer.

Come check out the work we’ve been doing to help preserve and restore the little piece of paradise we call Oscar Scherer State Park or better yet get involved.

If you enjoy hard work with satisfying results, volunteer for a day, a week, or more, you can participate in natural resource management, construction, programs, and special events at Oscar Scherer State Park. Give us a call if you are interested.
