Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins Historic State Park is the perfect destination for a lunchtime stop. Picnic under the oak trees in the open-air pavilion. Then, take a stroll along the path to see the remnants of a steam-driven mill that processed sugarcane into syrup, molasses, and rum. Stand below the iron gears and reflect on the history this site holds.
Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins Historic State Park is nestled into the heart of Old Homosassa, a historic fishing village. While strolling through the site, I encourage you to step back and remember the time this site was a fully operational 5,000-acre sugar plantation.
The staff and volunteers work hard to continue to preserve, interpret and restore the cultural resources within Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins Historic State Park, and I hope you enjoy your visit to this special place!
