2020 Distinguished Service Award
Distinguished Service Award
Rob understands what it means to serve, and it comes through in everything he does on a park, district, state and national level.
On the park level: There is not a task that Rob cannot do. Not only can he get it done but we have saved tremendous amounts of money from his insights on projects and the ability to get things done in house. Most of all, he has built up the rest of the team by sharing his knowledge and working with others to show them how to get things done right and giving them the confidence to do it on their own.
On the district level: Rob's skill set and great attitude are known throughout the district. He is often called upon to assist at other parks and the district office.
On the state level: Rob is the first to sign up to assist on any strike team. Whether it's a hurricane deployment or a fire strike team, he always wants to give and always has the rest of his team's safety and well-being in mind.
On the national level: Rob served on deployments out West this year. He was deployed to California to assist with the wildfires. The team he served on was trapped on top of a mountain and survived a burn over. All that time Rob was concerned with the welfare of the team he was serving on and was the only one that spoke up during the After Action Review regarding safety issues that needed to be addressed.
With his positive attitude and infectious laugh, Rob joined the park service to give back and make a difference. There is no doubt that's what he's done and will continue to do. Rob Collins always has your back.
