Mike Crane

Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park

Mike Crane is a native Floridian, and though his family left Florida, he found his way back! Mike has spent his time as a truck driver, mechanic and all-around Mr. Fix-It. He thinks about others and how he can make their lives and experiences the best that they can be. When he is not busy volunteering, you can find Mike and his family busy fishing, hiking and swimming.

Nearly 10 years ago, Mike and his family decided that they wanted to take their weekend camping to the next level. He got the opportunity to become a campground host at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park and he has not stopped. Mike is a year-round campground host at various parks around the state. He has over 10,000 volunteer hours!

He enjoys meeting new people who come to the park to camp. One of Mike's favorite activities is walking through the campground, seeing everyone at their campsites with a fire going in the firepit, and smelling what they are grilling. If you camp at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, stop by and see Mike. Not only will he help with any questions you have about Paynes Prairie, he will recommend other Florida State Parks for you to explore!
