Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park

After riding our horses for many years at Lower Wekiva (aka Fechtel Tract) while working full time, each of us decided upon retiring that we wanted to volunteer at Fechtel to help maintain the trails and campground areas. We both enjoy outdoor activities and working outside. Volunteering at Fechtel was the perfect place for us to give back.

We teamed up to work together. This makes the projects go faster and it is safer since we go into some pretty remote areas when clearing, mowing and trimming. Many trails are beautifully shaded canopies with a variety of terrain, trees, flowers and plants as well as a mix of wildlife and fowl. We love riding our horses through the miles of trails.

We take pride and pleasure in contributing to making the trails, grounds and facilities nice for horseback riders, campers, hikers and nature lovers to enjoy. Fechtel is a little haven for us all to share. We invite you to come to enjoy this beautiful place with us!
