Park Ranger, Jesse Natwick
Jesse Natwick never imagined that he would become a park ranger.
Jesse went to school to become an architect, but his plans changed when he realized architecture wasn’t his passion. Jesse jumped ship and moved to the southwest to do conservation work in the outdoors. Then Jesse returned to Florida, the place where he grew up, and achieved his goal of becoming a Florida Park Service Ranger. He loves working outside and teaching people new things about Florida’s natural communities.
At the park, Jesse’s favorite place to be is down at the bottom of the sinkhole, especially first thing in the morning or at the end of the day.
Jesse says that if you’re quiet at the bottom of Devil’s Millhopper, you can hear the movement of the birds, the wind and the water.
When Jesse is in the park, he’s reminded of his childhood in south Florida. Jesse’s dad would take him and his brother canoe-camping on the Peace River.
