Although the snook, mangrove snapper and manatee have left the winter warm water confines of the spring, there are still opportunities to admire some of the fish that call the spring home during the warmer summer months. Species include redfish, mullet, sheepshead, bass and brim. Go down into the Underwater Observatory to see the fish, possibly see one of our resident manatees, or just to cool off! The summertime is a great opportunity to enjoy the calm of our park and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

The big crowds have died down which provides the park an opportunity to catch up on some needed maintenance projects. Rangers will continue to pressure wash boardwalks and walkways and paint throughout the park. Behind the scenes, cyclical maintenance projects will occur.

We are thankful for the great staff and volunteers at the park. Without their dedication to the park’s natural and cultural resources, it wouldn’t be the great place that it is for all of us to enjoy.
