Bird-Watching at Anastasia

Welcome to a Birder's Paradise!

Anastasia State Park is a bird-watcher's paradise, with 195 identified bird species. And you don’t have to be an experienced birder to enjoy this special activity. With guided bird walks offered every month by knowledgeable staff, the entire family can enjoy a wildlife viewing opportunity.

The rich variety of birds found here is due to a diversity of habitats, including beach, dunes, salt marsh, coastal scrub and the globally rare maritime hammock.

The park is one of the most important areas for beach-nesting birds along the east coast of Florida, hosting imperiled species such as least terns, Wilson’s plovers and black skimmers.

Anastasia State Park is located along the Atlantic Flyway for migrating birds, which migrate thousands of miles in the fall and spring and often suffer from exhaustion and lack of nutrition. The park provides a critical stopping point where birds can feed and rest.

The park is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail and has been designated as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society.
