Description
Celebrate National Public Lands Day at Fanning Springs State Park, September 27, 2025
Established in 1994 and held every year on the fourth Saturday in September, National Public Lands Day is America's largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands. The theme for this year is "Our Home Outdoors." Fanning Springs State Park is the perfect place to celebrate your home outdoors with friends and family to enjoy the clear, cool springs, our picnic and playground area, boardwalk, trails, or launch a canoe or kayak.
Celebrate National Public Lands day at Fanning Springs State Park on September 27, 2025 with a guided hike on our Palmetto Hiking Trail from 9:00—10:00 AM. We will meet spring side near the concession building. The Palmetto Hiking Trail is an easy, 0.75 mile, unpaved hiking trail which travels through upland mixed hardwood and pine forest with many trees over 60 feet tall!
There will also be a Ranger-led interpretive program "Litter Lingers!" which will be from 10:30—11:00 AM located spring side next to the concession building. This event will demonstrate how litter impacts our public lands and what sustainable swaps can be used to reduce litter. There will also be an opportunity to make sustainable beeswax wraps afterwards (while supplies last).
