Bring in the new year with a guided hike for the annual first day hike by joining our wonderful staff members on the east slough over look trail. On this guided hike, participants will get to experience a laid back hike in the unique natural communities found here on the island. This trail will bring us through the interior of the island, traversing around the dunes and around the bank of the east slough. St. George Island hosts nesting sea turtles, shorebirds, birds of prey, migratory birds, beautiful coastal wildflowers, reptiles, amphibians, and insects that all rely on the pristine habitats found here on the island. No matter your interests, there's something for everyone. All ages are welcome to join and be a part of seeing the Real Florida. We will start the day off at the East Slough Beach use area to have a quick meeting before setting off on the trail. Participants should expect an easy 1 hour hike on this event. Afterwards, participants are welcome to enjoy all that this state park has to offer.
