Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park commemorates the site of Florida’s largest Civil War battle. For more than 100 years, Olustee has welcomed visitors to walk its grounds and remember one of our nation’s bloodiest conflicts.

Not just known for the history of the famous battle, visitors to Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park can see abundant animal and plant life in this wild and wonderful place.

The park is open year-round, 365 days a year from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a visitor center, trails and monument guide visitors through the battle in February in 1864.

The biggest Florida State Park event of the year is fast approaching! The 67th annual Florida Folk Festival takes place on Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26, 2019, on the banks of the Suwannee River at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.

One of the newer trails in the state park system, the Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail consists of 47 planned miles of paved path. Walkers, runners, cyclists, pets and inline skaters are welcome on this trail that will eventually stretch to the town of Palatka (and possibly farther) along the old Norfolk Southern Railroad track.

It all started with pine. The abundance of pine and the growing demand created a boom for West Florida and started a new era of rail transportation.

Florida’s tourism history stretches back much further than theme parks and beaches, in fact as far back as the 1800s. See the spring that started it all! Located on the edge of Stephen Foster Folk Culture State Park on U.S. 41, the Spring House is a gem of natural and cultural history.

Blackwater Heritage trail offers 8.1 miles of prime birdwatching tree line. The Florida Panhandle region covers the northern area of the Sunshine State and offers forest, wetlands and marine habitats for birds.
