Historic Garden
Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park is a historical landscape that combines history and beauty.
Lake Overstreet
Lake Overstreet is a superb example of a pristine freshwater lake. It is a scenic 144-acre lake that is located on the trail system at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. An abundance of native vegetation, such as water lily and pickerelweed, grows in the lake.
Lake Overstreet trails
The Lake Overstreet Trail is a thriving trail system that has something for everyone. Gently sloping hills and ravines characterize the uplands portion of the property.
Tour of Gardens
Each May, the Friends of Maclay Gardens host their annual Tour of Gardens event. This event is a self-guided tour that showcases some of the finest landscapes in Tallahassee.
Nature Walks
Tarkiln Bayou Preserve, like many areas of Florida, has a diverse ecosystem, including wetlands. Our guided hikes are a great way for the family to get outdoors together and enjoy a few hours of nature.
The Bayou
The bayou that lies at the center of the more accessible portion of the park is just one highlight of the vistas to be found in the preserve.
Birding at Perdido Key
Birding is a very popular activity along the Gulf Coast of Florida. Perdido Key State Park is home to numerous native shorebirds and unique seasonal visitors.
Beach Ecosystem
The beautiful white sugary sand at Perdido Key State Park is comprised of finely ground quartz, washed down from the Appalachians 25 million years ago. Today, beach-goers enjoy the beautiful sand, sun and water but the beach is much more than that.
Manager's Message
Now is the perfect time to bring the whole family out for a fun-filled day exploring white sand beaches and swimming in the blue waters of the Gulf of America.
