Chris is a Florida native, born in Miami but raised in Tampa. Chris has always had a passion for the outdoors and grew up fishing, camping and hiking throughout Florida.

Invasive plants threaten the natural environment. Park rangers, biologists and volunteers work hard to ensure that the natural habitats at our state parks represent the best of Florida. There are four things you can do to help native plants.

The headwaters of the Hillsborough River are in the Green Swamp to the northeast of the park near Zephyrhills. Just three 3 miles upstream from the park is Crystal Springs, a magnitude two spring system that discharges 30 million gallons per day into the Hillsborough River.

Vickie and Dan are new resident volunteers at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. As camp hosts, they help youth groups in the Elks Youth Camp, guide tours for potential visitors and help run tram tours on busy days.

Park Ranger Nicole is passionate about protecting and preserving our environment. When Nikki had an opportunity to become a ranger in her favorite park, she found the greatest job in the world! Nikki loves calling St. Andrews her home and strives to teach visitors how we protect and preserve the park's unique natural resources.

Richard has been recognized with the esteemed Irene DeLaby Award for volunteering more than 10,000 hours at Florida State Parks.
