Join Us for a Scenic Hike at Myakka River State Park!
Embark on a fascinating journey through Myakka River State Park, where history, nature, and stunning views await! We'll start along the scenic Ranch House Road, making several stops to explore the majestic Live Oaks, Bertha Palmer's vision for the land, the Sweeting family's legacy, and the park's unique hydrology.
Our route will take us to the charming little stone (sandbag) bridge on All-Weather Road, where we'll pause to admire the vast prairie. On our return, we'll have a chance to soak in the breathtaking beauty of the river's floodplain, hoping to catch the stunning sunset around 5:30 PM.
Details:
Distance: Just over 2 miles roundtrip
Time: We'll be back before dark, no need for bug spray or flashlights
What to bring: Comfortable closed-toe shoes, water, and maybe a hat or camera to capture the views
This is the perfect opportunity to connect with nature, learn about the park's fascinating history, and experience the magic of a Myakka sunset. We can't wait to see you on the trail!

Step back into the year 1876 as you meander down the trail to the Cow Camp. At the end of the trail, you will find a Florida Cow Hunter in a frontier camp nestled under a picturesque oak hammock within the route of the cattle drive. The cow hunter will be cooking, making coffee, tending to the cattle or just resting up, until he has caught the cows in the area and moves to the next cow camp.
