2025 International Coastal Cleanup For Franklin County

Please join us and the Apalachicola River keepers for a fun filled day at the annual coastal cleanup event. This event benefits our one of kind beaches while protecting threated species and reducing the negative impact on local ecosystems. St. George Island hosts a variety of unique natural communities, nesting sea turtles and shorebirds that rely on the pristine habitats found here on the island. This coastal clean up will consist of picking up litter along the coastlines. All ages are welcome to join our community and be a part of protecting the Real Florida. We will start the day off at the ranger station to have a quick meeting and go over the days itinerary before breaking into our small groups to go to our designated cleanup zones. Participants should expect maximum 3 hours on this event. Afterwards, participants are welcome to enjoy all that this state park has to offer.

National Public Lands Day At Maclay Gardens

Celebrate this nationwide event with us by volunteering in the historic gardens! National Public Lands Day began in 1994 and remains the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort. All are welcome to join us for a morning of cleaning up the garden beds - you don't need a green thumb to pull weeds!

Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the volunteer event. Scout troops, corporate volunteers, and other groups are welcome! Volunteers not currently registered with Florida State Parks may sign a Short-Term Volunteer Agreement for the duration of the event. Please arrive to the park to sign paperwork by 8:30 AM if you are not a registered Florida State Parks volunteer.

Please arrive wearing closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that can get dirty. We also recommend gloves, a water bottle, insect repellant, and sun protection. All tools will be provided by the park.

National Public Lands Day - Oscar Scherer State Park

Workday at Oscar Scherer State Park, to include hand pulling invasive plants, spreading mulch around playgrounds, litter pick up, & trail maintenance.

Our Home Outdoors

We are excited to invite volunteers to join our park staff team for a cleanup event on the Intracoastal Waterway, cleaning debris from the mangroves, on Saturday, September 27, 2925, from 9 am to 1 pm EDT.

Friends Of The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Farm Annual Meeting

The annual meeting for our Friends of the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Farm Inc. CSO is here again! We will welcome our 2025 Board and Officers and hear from Flo Turcotte about "The Remarkable Friendship of Marge and Julia."

Garden Workday - Open Volunteer Opportunity

Ready to get your gloves dirty? Does your student need community service hours for an education requirement? Do you want to spend time outdoors in nature? The gardens need our help all year to keep them looking beautiful, and we need YOUR help!

Meet us in front of the Visitor Center bright and early! Late arrivals may be unable to participate, so be sure to be punctual. We will provide gloves and insect repellant. Please wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that can get dirty. Bring your water bottle to stay hydrated and sun protection if needed.

All volunteers who are not registered with Florida State Parks must complete a "Short Term Volunteer Agreement" form upon arrival to the gardens. All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or service organization leader for the duration of the workday.

For questions, please contact the park's volunteer coordinator at (850) 241-8325 or the Ranger Station at (850) 487-4556.

We hope to see you there!
