Bahia Honda State Park

Mona McCauley is the face of Bahia Honda. She has been greeting the excited guests that come visit the park for the last 32 years. There is no denying that Mona loves people and that’s what makes her perfect for her job. Originally from Wisconsin, Mona always wanted to be a park ranger and she set out to make that happen. When she heard about the open position here at Bahia Honda, she persisted until she was hired. Management has never regretted that decision and is happy that Mona became such an integral part of the team.

Mona has seen many changes throughout her years and has been a key player in keeping the ranger station organized and up to date. “I love my job” she says, “because I love people, and everyday there are new faces.” New faces or old faces they all get drawn in by her welcoming smile and her bubbly personality. Mona is well loved in the community and so many campers know her by name. In fact, there isn’t a day that goes by without a “where’s Mona?” inquiry. Mona loves being a resident ranger and has no plans to retire anytime soon. She makes it her business to make sure that visitors are happy and informed, so she plans on doing that for as long as she can. We can guarantee that when you come to visit Bahia Honda State Park, Mona will make you feel right at home.
