Growing up in Long Island, New York, Kathleen was used to being around the water. She enjoyed boating, swimming and water skiing. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Kathleen and her husband decided a warmer climate was where they wanted to be. Her parents lived near St. Augustine, so they too decided to enjoy Florida's sunny weather and beautiful beaches year-round.
“I thought working at a state park would be fun, especially at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park – and I was right,” said Kathleen. “The people who work and volunteer here are great.”
Kathleen works in administration as a government operations consultant. Her duties include working with budgets, payroll and other administrative duties. She also manages the resident volunteer program, and enjoys meeting and working with the resident volunteers she encounters.
“Weeki Wachee is unique with the underwater theater (mermaid shows), the water park and the riverboat cruise. Coming here is an adventure.”
