Park Ranger, Jeromy Roundtree

John Gorrie Museum State Park

Originally from Marietta Georgia, Jeromy moved south to Florida to enjoy the warmer weather.  His love for natural and cultural resources led him to pursue a career with the Florida Park Service.  Jeromy has always had a love for the outdoors and was enticed by the idea of being able to enjoy fresh air and nature while at work.  The history and charm of the Apalachicola area drew him to the John Gorrie Museum State Park.

Park Ranger Jeromy Roundtree has one of the COOLest jobs in the state of Florida. Ranger Jeromy gets to share both his passion for history and love for ice in the museum dedicated to the man who made the very first Ice Machine and today is referred to as the "father of refrigeration."

You'll typically find Jeromy in the park giving tours to groups of all sizes or maintaining the museum grounds. Jeromy especially enjoys bringing John Gorrie to life by sharing who he was as a person, not just as an inventor. Jeromy says that one of his favorite aspects of the position is being able to help people understand the role of the Department of Environmental Protection and Florida Park Service today as they enjoy the temporary exhibit featuring the History of the Florida Park Service.

Ranger Jeromy invites you to come enjoy some cool air and learn how one man was able to change the way we live here today.
