Piney Bluff Trails
Enjoy a day's ride on three marked trails varying in length from 1.4 miles to 6.1 miles through natural communities such as sandhills, mesic flatwoods, baygall and seepage slope. Trails hold water in several spots and may not be accessible during times of heavy rain. Some long sections of uneven/sandy terrain and some roots present. Coverage is shady with several long sections of sun exposure.
Directions: All trails start from the same trailhead located in at the event field. Enter through the main park entrance on 320 Sisco Road and travel until the road dead ends at a large field. The trail entrance is located just past the large oak in the center of the field, marked with a large sign.
- Green Trail - 1.4 miles
- Red Trail - 2.6 miles
- Blue Trail - 6.1 miles
Blue Pond Trail
Enjoy a day's ride along 2 miles of distinct natural communities, including sandhills, mesic flatwoods, baygall and seepage slope. The main trail (marked yellow) is 2 miles long with a 0.76-mile spur (marked red). This trail has some sections of uneven terrain but is mostly flat. Coverage is direct sun.
Directions: The trailhead to this system is located at the Blue Pond entrance off U.S. 17 in Pomona Park.
Trail Notes: Because these are multi-use trails, be prepared to meet the occasional hiker, horseback rider or park vehicle. Please stay on designated trails, ride responsibly, and respect the park and wildlife. The park closes at sundown and you must exit the park at that time, so please plan your ride accordingly.
- Helmets are highly recommended for all cyclists. Florida law requires helmets for cyclists age 16 and under.
- The trails are located in a wilderness area. Please take water, a compass and a map/GPS. There is no potable (drinking) water onsite. Please pack out garbage and follow Leave No Trace principles.
- Trails may be closed at any time due to resource management activities such as prescribed fires.
- Although quite elusive, Florida black bears can be found at Dunns Creek State Park. Please be aware and follow the proper safety precautions.
Enjoy a relaxing day of fishing on Dunns Creek. The park's fishing pier is a great spot for catching bass, catfish, bream, speckled perch, mullet and more. The park offers an accessible fishing pier at our day use area located at the Sisco Road entrance.
- A fishing license may be required. More information is available at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Fishing in Florida website.
Explore the park in a new and challenging way. Experienced Geocachers have requested permission to hide caches containing trinkets, treasures or information in various places around the park. Please check the Geocaching website for the most up-to-date information and clues to locate these caches.
