The park offers the perfect environment for surf fishing.
- All fishing within the park must conform to regulations concerning size, number, method of capture and season. A fishing license may be required. More information is available at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission’s Fishing in Florida.
Amenities
Deer Lake State Park features a half-mile of sugar-sand beach, perfect for swimming, sunning, building sandcastles and looking for shells.
Visitors to coastal parks are reminded to pay close attention to the Warning Flag Signs posted at welcome stations and on the beaches. These flags indicate the swimming conditions at the beach:

Beach flags.
- Double red flags mean absolutely no swimming because of high winds and undertow currents.
- Red flag means high surf and/or strong currents. Swim with extreme caution. Knee deep is to deep
- Yellow flag means swim with caution and stay close to shore.
- Green flag means that the waters are safe.
- Purple flag means that marine pests are present.
- Please use caution - lifeguards are not provided.
Pets are allowed in the park but not on the boardwalk, beaches or in state buildings. They must be well-behaved and kept on a six-foot, hand-held leash at all times. Pets must not be left unattended or taken into restroom facilities. You must pick up after your pet (don't forget your baggies). These rules help preserve important wildlife habitat.
Please do not leave your pets unattended in a vehicle as temperatures inside vehicles can be dangerously high.
Service animals are welcome in all areas and buildings of the park as required by law.
