Boy Scout Troop 529
Boy Scout Troop 529 is the recipient of the 2022 Volunteer Team of Three+ Award of the Year for Maintenance.
In 2022, Boy Scout Troop 529 contributed 1,588 hours of community service to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.
The troop’s Eagle Scout projects are helping to improve the park’s youth camp. The Scouts have worked to improve the fire pit by digging it out and installing new concrete and wooden benches, renovating the amphitheater installing a new sink and cook prep table, adding native plants and removing exotic plants and general cleaning and maintenance. They have been responsible for fundraising and project planning.
The dedication of the Scouts ensures that many groups will enjoy the youth camp for years to come. They have been innovative in their project ideas and efficient in completing projects in a timely manner without interfering with other groups using the campground.
