Mike and Jamie Saunders
Mike and Jamie's top priority is helping others, greeting campers and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of park visitors.
Mike and Jaimie, both Air Force veterans, began their first volunteer position with Florida State Parks in July 2024 at Colt Creek State Park. Since then, they have contributed over 1,400 volunteer hours as a couple, earning the 200-hour volunteer award. After Jaimie retired in 2019 from Tyndall AFB, they decided to trade snowbird life in Maine for full-time RV living in sunny Florida, ultimately discovering and falling in love with Colt Creek. As campground hosts, their top priority is helping others, greeting campers, and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of park visitors. They assist with campground upkeep, from raking campsites to offering support with tasks like mowing and maintenance. Despite evacuating during two hurricanes, Mike and Jaimie’s dedication to the park has remained unwavering. They enjoy volunteering, biking on trails, and walking their Newfoundland, “Boh,” around the park, often interacting with guests. Their love for Florida’s natural beauty and wildlife makes their time as volunteers a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
