After retiring from 40 years in hospital management, Ken McKinney wanted to give back. He volunteers with the Florida State Parks because he’s a believer in community service, enjoys camaraderie and teamwork with the rest of the staff and the available RV site. Fanning Springs State Park is one of eight state parks over the last 8 years where Ken has volunteered, contributing over 2,000 hours of service. As a fourth-generation Floridian, Ken enjoys much of what the parks have to offer, especially off-road cycling and swimming. In his spare time, he also enjoys art and architecture, cooking and his dogs. As a veteran, he takes pride in his public service work at the ranger station, which makes the first impression on all the visitors. Ken makes sure it’s looking neat inside and out and greets everyone with a smile.
