Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park has a wonderful local group of volunteers! The Bridge Building Crew (John, Wendy, Pat and Dave) are always willing to help, and collectively they have donated approximately 200 hours this past year to keep our trails safe and enjoyable for everyone. They are a devoted crew that goes above and beyond.
After the summer hurricane season and its storm damage, this dedicated group teamed up to clear trees and debris on the trails, repair damaged boardwalks and bridges, and opened eight miles of trails. One notably large project they completed was moving and repairing a 40-foot bridge. This year the team has cleaned up hurricane damage, built ramps, power washed, painted and more.
For those thinking “I could volunteer my time," please reach out to our Volunteer Manager Steven.Linner@FloridaDEP.gov so you can get you involved too. There is always room for more volunteers at Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park!
